When a home in Amblecote needs emptying, SRW Services provides a calm, thorough house clearance Amblecote families, executors and landlords can rely on. From the small houses built for the area’s glass workers to the family homes on its later estates, we leave every property clear and ready for sale, for new tenants or for whatever you have planned next.
We plan each job before we arrive, working out the order of rooms and how many people it needs, so the day moves along steadily and nothing is rushed.
Clearing a loved one's home can be hard. Our team works respectfully, takes care with your belongings and the building, and is considerate towards neighbours throughout.
We are fully insured and licensed waste carriers, so everything we take away is dealt with properly. All our work is guaranteed.
We begin with a free home visit and quote, so you know the cost before any work starts. Unlike a skip, there is no permit to arrange and no waiting for collection, and our team does all the carrying.
SRW Services is a family run clearance business, established in 1999. We take on single items, a few rooms or whole homes, including houses, flats and bungalows, and we also clear garages, sheds, lofts, gardens and offices.
Our base on Bloxwich Road North in Willenhall is about 11 miles from Amblecote, which lies immediately north of Stourbridge town centre. Amblecote’s neighbours are Wollaston, Audnam, Quarry Bank and Brierley Hill. The A491 forms its High Street before carrying on to Wordsley and Kingswinford, and the A461 crosses it along Brettell Lane and Wollaston Road. Amblecote is a ward of the Metropolitan Borough of Dudley.
Amblecote’s mixed housing shapes how we plan a clearance. Collis Street, King William Street and side streets such as Vale Street, Villa Street and Dennis Street were built for glass workers between the mid 19th and early 20th centuries. The houses are mostly small to medium sized, on narrow streets, so we check beforehand where the van can stop and how far items must travel. Along the High Street, some early cottages sit very close to the road, so we carry everything out with care and sweep up afterwards.
Behind the High Street, small cul de sacs mix detached, semi detached and terraced houses with bungalows. Later private estates such as Stourview, Broomhill and Beechwood Park added many family homes, which can mean a fuller clearance across more rooms. Dennis Hall, a listed glass master’s mansion, was converted into flats, and modern apartment blocks stand between King William Street and Collis Street, so we map out carrying routes through shared entrances and any communal stairs.
Newer homes stand beside the northern stretch of the Stourbridge Branch Canal towpath. The canal through Amblecote is a conservation area, and canalside gardens are among its noted features. When we clear one, we take away garden waste and household rubbish.
On the day, a team of two or three, sometimes more for a larger house, arrives as arranged. Before anything leaves the property, we go through the rooms with you, or with whoever you have asked to be there, and sort items into what you are keeping, what can be donated, what can be recycled and what has to be disposed of. Anything you want to keep is set safely to one side.
Suitable furniture and household goods go to charity, and we recycle as much as we can to keep waste out of landfill. Bulky pieces, appliances, garden waste and general rubbish are all taken away, and anything that cannot be reused or recycled goes to licensed or registered waste transfer stations. When the last load is out, we sweep through and leave the property clear.
We cover the whole of Amblecote, including Coalbournbrook and Holloway End at the southern end of the High Street, the larger homes along Brettell Lane and estates such as Lemonshawe, Quincy Rise and Fox Hollow. Amblecote addresses fall in both DY8 and DY5, and we cover both, along with Audnam just to the north.
Amblecote is well within reach of our base in Willenhall, so the diary decides it rather than the distance. Same day visits are sometimes possible, but we cannot promise one, so it pays to get in touch as early as you can.
If you cannot be there in person, a relative, an executor, your solicitor or your estate agent can meet us at the visit and on the day, so just tell us who our contact will be. If the property is a flat, let us know how the shared entrance works as well.
Papers, photographs and keepsakes can turn up in drawers, cupboards and lofts, particularly in an older Amblecote house that has been one family’s home for many years. Tell us at the visit which documents or personal items matter to you, and the team will keep them separate from everything being cleared. Anything you have already found is best put somewhere safe before the day.
If your house on the Stourvale or Tudor Hill estates has a garage and a loft as well as a garden, including them from the start means we can quote for the whole job together. If you only need the garage emptied, or just the shed and garden, we can do that on its own.
Arranging a clearance in Amblecote is straightforward. There are three steps, and you are welcome to ask us questions at any point along the way.
Tell us about the property, roughly how much is in it and how easy it is to park nearby, and we will arrange a time to look round and give you a quote.
Once you are happy with the quote, we agree a date together. If you are working towards a sale completing or a new tenancy starting, tell us at this stage so we can take it into account.
On the agreed date, our team works through the property room by room and loads the van as we go. Once the job is finished, whoever is there can walk round with us and check that everything agreed has gone.
