For house clearance Perry Barr residents can rely on, SRW Services takes away everything you no longer need, be it one awkward wardrobe from a Perry Barr Village apartment or the contents of a family semi in nearby Perry Beeches. Clearing a home is rarely just a practical job, and we are here to make it lighter and leave the property clear.
We plan every clearance ahead. At the home visit we note access, parking, stairs and heavy pieces, and the crew arrives with a clear running order for the day.
Saying goodbye to a much loved home takes time. We handle belongings with respect, give you room to decide what to keep and stay considerate of the neighbours while the van is outside.
We are licensed waste carriers and fully insured, every member of staff is qualified, and all our work is guaranteed.
Your home visit and quote are both free, so you know where you stand before you decide. Partial clearances are welcome too, and as the team carries everything out, there is no skip to hire or permit to arrange.
SRW Services is a family run house clearance business, established in 1999. Our base on Bloxwich Road North in Willenhall is about 7 miles from Perry Barr, a suburb in the north of Birmingham.
In Perry Barr the A34 crosses the Outer Circle: Walsall Road heads north, while Birchfield Road and its shops lead towards the city centre. Close by are the shopping centre and the railway station, rebuilt alongside a new bus interchange. Homes around the station, near Alexander Stadium or out towards Perry Hall Park are all well within reach of our team.
Much of the old Perry Barr district was built up between the wars, with housing spreading along Walsall Road and Kingstanding Road through the 1930s. Such homes often hold decades of belongings, and we allow time for every room.
Just north of the Tame Valley Canal, Perry Beeches in Great Barr has many houses built before the Second World War, and the rest of the estate was finished after 1945. On the northern side of the estate the semi detached houses were privately owned, while homes on the southern side were built for rent, in blocks of four to six houses. Where a house in one of those blocks has no side access, everything comes out through the front, and that route is the first thing we plan.
In the first phase of Perry Barr Village, on the former university site off Aldridge Road, most homes are one and two bedroom apartments, where shared entrances, stairs and any lifts shape how furniture leaves the building. On the Handsworth Wood side, Victorian houses tend to be larger, with more rooms to clear.
Near the centre, the A34 flyover came down in 2021 and the road now runs at ground level, with traffic lights and Sprint bus lanes. That means the van’s loading spot is settled early.
Usually a team of two or three comes to the property, with extra hands for a larger one. Before anything leaves, we walk through the rooms with you and sort the contents into four groups: things you are keeping, things that can be donated, things that can be recycled and things that have to be disposed of. Anything set aside for the family stays exactly where you want it.
Everything that is leaving is loaded straight onto the van. Suitable items are donated to charity, we recycle as much as possible, and waste goes to licensed or registered waste transfer stations, keeping as much as we can out of landfill. When the last load is out, we sweep through so every room is left clear and tidy.
As early as you can, especially when a date is already fixed. Notice also gives time to plan how everything will leave, which matters at Perry Barr Village with its shared entrances and any lifts, or at one of the Perry Beeches houses built in blocks of four to six. Now and then a same day visit is possible when the diary allows, but it is best not to rely on that when a deadline is close.
Perry Barr itself and the areas that border it, including Perry Beeches and Hamstead in Great Barr to the north, Handsworth Wood, Birchfield towards Aston, and Witton to the east of Perry Barr Village. We also clear homes across the rest of Birmingham.
For a few bags or a small item you can carry yourself, the Perry Barr Household Recycling Centre off Holford Drive may well be the simplest option, though check the council’s current rules first. Once it comes to wardrobes, beds, fridges or a whole house of contents, the lifting, loading and repeat trips soon add up, and that is where a clearance team makes sense.
That is a decision for the executor, and their solicitor if they have one, rather than for us. What we can do is fit around it. Where a house has been in the family for decades, an early quote shows the size of the job, and the clearance date can be set once the executor is happy to go ahead. We are glad to speak with the solicitor directly if that helps.
Anything precious or private, such as jewellery, photographs or important papers, is best moved somewhere safe or clearly marked, so nothing you want to keep ends up on the van. In one of the area’s 1930s houses, check the loft and any shed too, because keepsakes and paperwork are often tucked away there.
Getting a Perry Barr property cleared comes down to three straightforward steps. The home visit and the quote are both free.
Get in touch and tell us about the property, roughly what needs to go and anything that is staying. We look over the job and then give you a clear quote to think over, with no pressure to decide on the spot.
Once you are happy, we agree a clearance date that fits around completions, tenancy dates or family plans wherever possible. If relatives want one last look round first, tell us and we will allow for it.
On the agreed day the team clears the property and loads the van. Before we leave, we go round with you so you can lock up knowing the job is finished.
Alongside full house clearance, we offer flat clearance for apartments and upper floor homes, garage clearance for crowded garages, sheds and lofts, and garden clearance for overgrown plots. Our rubbish clearance suits single items and smaller loads, and office clearance is there for local businesses.
We handle bereavement and probate clearance sensitively, working with families, executors and solicitors, and we help landlords getting a rental ready for new tenants, and owners or estate agents clearing a home for sale. Beyond Perry Barr, we provide house clearance in Birmingham more widely, including Aston, Edgbaston and Stechford. When you are ready, contact the team to talk it through.
